Men's Retreat...
Went on a retreat this weekend with a group of men from various churches in the area. We stayed at
Camp Hanes and the weather was BEAUTIFUL.
Our speaker was
Al Andrews and he talked about our need for community as men. To often we try to live our lives in relative isolation form other men. He talked about the need for encouragement, having an imagination for other men, and speaking truth into each others lives.
The talks were great but the best thing about it was fellowship with guys that I don't often have the time to see and talk to. I also met a guy that I worked at
Camp Willow Run with over twelve years ago. His brother (who I'd known for the last four years) brought him to the retreat and we did some catching up.
My challenge now will be to carry the sense of community we fostered into the "real world". Too often these sorts of weekends are mountain top experiences that lose their focus quickly. I don't want that to happen with this one.
